General Motors sells a lot of pickup trucks, and a sruprising number of them wear HD (for heavy duty) badges. For 2015, GMC's Sierra HD is all-new, and boasts ?class-leading capabilities,? a reference to the war of numbers waged among the three domestic truck brands.
The Sierra continues to be a twin to the Chevrolet Silverado, and like that truck, the Sierra HD can be ordered in 2500 or 3500 trim, and with either a 6.0L gas V8 (360 hp/380 lb-ft of torque; curiously, GM's specs say the 3500 gets a 322-hp version) or a 6.6L Duramax turbodiesel that makes 397 hp and 765 lb-ft. The gas engine is mated to a GM-built six-speed automatic, while the diesel is paired with an Allison-built six-speed.
Trim levels include 2500HD WT, 2500HD SLE, 2500HD SLT, 2500HD Denali, 3500HD WT, 3500HD SLE, 3500HD SLT and 3500HD Denali; 3500 models can be had with either a single rear wheel setup, or a ?dually? axle.
2500HD WT standard features include chrome bumpers and grille surround, floor-mounted manual-shift two-speed transfer case (4WD models), four cargo box tie-downs, black door handles, manual-folding black side mirrors, recovery hooks, tailgate and bedrail protection caps, locking tailgate, 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, driver information centre, tilt steering, manual windows (regular car models), power windows with driver express-up and express-down for other windows, 40/20/40 split front bench seat, rear folding bench seat (double cab), rear 60/40 split folding rear seat (crew cab), and a four- (regular cab) or six-speaker (double/crew cab) AM/FM stereo with 4.2-inch display, USB port and auxiliary input.
2500HD SLE trim adds OnStar, heavy-duty trailering package, electronic 4WD shifter (4WD models), body-colour door handles, LED cargo box lighting, heated and electric-adjustable side mirrors, body-colour side mouldings, backup camera, EZ-lift and lower tailgate, 4G LTE hotspot capability, 17-inch aluminum wheels, rear wheelhouse liners (double and crew cab), carpeting and removable floormats, upgraded driver informatin centre, keyless entry, leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls, 60/40 split rear seat in double cab models, IntelliLink infotainment system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, six-speaker stereo (regular cab) and a CD player.
SLT trim brings a theft-deterrent system, remote starter, chrome door handles, projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, fog lights, power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signal repeaters, chrome bodyside mouldings, 18-inch wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, rear window defroster, power-adjustable pedals, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 100-volt power outlet, tilt-and-telescopic steering, garage door opener, 10-way power driver and front passenger seats with leather inserts, and heated front seats.
Denali models come with 20-inch chromed aluminum wheels, heated steering wheel, and 12-way power front seats with heat and ventilation functions.
3500HD WT models build on 2500HD WT models and add vertical camper-style side mirrors and 18-inch wheels (single rear wheel) or 17-inch wheels (dual rear wheel).
3500HD SLE trim brings power-adjustable vertical camper-style mirrors.
3500HD SLT trucks get a power-folding function for its side mirrors, and a power sliding rear window.
3500HD Denali trim adds chrome assist steps, body-colour bumpers, chrome door handles, leather seats, and a Bose six-speaker stereo.
